Informations for parents

My first visit
When?
The first dental visit is recommended no later than the age of 1. During this visit, we evaluate your child's mouth and discuss recommendations for maintaining good oral health.
What to Expect for My Child's First Visit?
The first visit is often an opportunity for the dentist to get to know your child and for your child to explore the clinic and meet the staff. Feel free to ask any questions and discuss any concerns you may have with the dentist. Together, we will create a plan to take care of your child's teeth and mouth.
How to Prepare for My Child's First Visit?
Practice makes perfect. Before coming to the appointment, introduce the idea of the dentist to your child, whether it be playing dentist at home, practicing with a toothbrush, reading books or watching tv with a special character that goes to the dentist. You can also show them pictures of the clinic.
Once at the office, we'll try our best to make sure that your child feels comfortable. However, we advise parents to refrain from making promises or lying to the child about what the dentist will do, or even trying to buy their cooperation with a special gift. Let us show and tell the steps of the appointment to your child.

Special needs children
We often see children and adults with special needs. Some of these patients require more time to get used to the dental environment. It will be our pleasure to work with you to improve their dental experience. If a certain thing helps your child relax, for example a toy, music, a video, etc., you can bring it to the appointment. When possible, we will use it to help make the appointment more pleasant.

Dental trauma
Following any trauma to the mouth, a dental evaluation is recommended. Contact us.
Some cases require prompt intervention:
Tooth avulsion (tooth completely knocked out)
If it's an adult tooth, try to find the tooth, place it in cold milk, and go to the nearest clinic or pediatric hospital immediately. The tooth needs to be reinserted as soon as possible. A baby tooth should not be reinserted.
Broken tooth
If your child has broken their tooth, determine if there is a red spot in the damaged tooth (i.e the nerve of the tooth). In this case, the tooth may be very sensitive and should be seen by a dentist immediately. If you are able to locate the other broken piece of the tooth, clean with water and bring it to the appointment with you.
